Safety State (2024) Animator
In a near dystopian future, a lesbian and a gay couple make uncomfortable travel companions in order to escape persecution in a red state and flee to freedom in a Safety State. This is the third short film by Crone Heights Productions, the product of Jeanette L. Buck, Rani Deighe Crowe and Bonnie Rae Brickman. Crone Heights’ mission is to put more women in front of and behind the camera producing diverse stories that otherwise might not be told. Crone Heights previously made Heather Has Four Moms and Quiet on Set.

Where are you going to go when you are stripped of your rights to be who you are?
Safety State is a near future dystopian road trip comedy where a lesbian and a gay couple make uncomfortable travel companions in order to escape persecution in a red state and flee to freedom in a Safety State. Thrown together out of necessity, this unlikely foursome have to pretend to be straight in order to be gay on the road from the midwest to New England.
